When God Seems Silent

“My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning.”

Psalm 130:6

There are seasons in life when it feels like I've stepped back, like I've stopped speaking, like things just keep happening with no sign of me anywhere in the middle of it. You've already prayed, already fasted, already waited, and the silence feels longer than any answer you've ever received.

The watchman waiting for morning on the wall doesn't know the exact hour the sun will rise, but he knows, with absolute certainty, that morning is coming. He doesn't stare at the clock every minute, gripped by despair — he waits with the confidence of someone who has watched the sun rise every single day of his life.

I want your soul to wait like that: not in an anxious count of every second of silence, but in a quiet certainty that I am still in control, even when I'm not speaking the way you expected to hear.
