Content in Today's Loneliness

“God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”

Psalm 68:6

I know about the empty side of the bed, the table set for just one, the longing to share your day with someone who hasn't arrived yet. Loneliness hurts, and I won't pretend it's easy to carry. But I want to speak to you about a contentment that's possible even in this season.

I am the God who sets the lonely in families — sometimes through the marriage that is still to come, sometimes through friends who become like siblings, sometimes through a community that welcomes you in. Your loneliness today is not a final sentence; it is a season, and even within it I am already placing people on your path.

While that isn't complete yet, learn to be grateful for the company you already have in me. Pray out loud, like someone talking to a real person, because that is who I am to you. Contentment in loneliness isn't accepting that you'll be alone forever — it's trusting that I am caring for your heart while time moves forward.
