Contentment in What Is Enough

“Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:”

Proverbs 30:8

I know the culture around you teaches that more is always better, that wealth is a sign of ultimate blessing, and that having little is something to be ashamed of. But the wise man in Proverbs prayed differently: he asked for neither poverty nor riches, just the food he needed. That's a rare prayer these days.

Financial contentment doesn't mean giving up on growing — it means recognizing that enough is already an enormous blessing compared to the hunger so many face. Whoever is only satisfied by excess risks forgetting me in abundance, and whoever lives in poverty risks doubting me in lack. Balance protects faith.

Today, look at what you have and ask: is this enough to live with dignity? If the answer is yes, give thanks, even as you keep working for more. Gratitude for today's enough doesn't stop you from growing tomorrow — it only keeps greed from stealing your peace along the way.
