The Courage to Say No

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Romans 12:2

I saw you being invited, once again, toward a direction that isn't yours. A path that looks good in other people's eyes, that promises status or quick money, but that deep in your heart doesn't line up with what I placed in you. And the pressure to accept is great — everyone seems to think it's the right choice.

Not every open door is a door from me. Part of discerning your purpose is precisely knowing how to say no to what isn't yours, even when it looks like a good opportunity in the world's eyes. That takes courage, because it will create tension, and it may disappoint someone you love.

Don't conform to the pattern just because agreeing is easier. Ask me for discernment, renew your understanding in my word, and have the courage to turn down what isn't your calling — even without a perfect explanation to give others.
