A Plan, Not a Coincidence

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Jeremiah 29:11

My son, my daughter, today I want to remind you of something you forget when the day starts off wrong: you are not an accident. You were not tossed here without direction, left over in some corner of the world. Before any contract was signed, before any diploma or résumé, I already had thoughts toward you. Thoughts of peace.

I know that sometimes life feels like a string of things that simply happen: the job that didn't work out, the relationship that ended, the plan that never left the drawing board. And in the middle of it all, the question grows: what is any of this for? I tell you: nothing you go through is outside my sight. I have an end in mind for you, a purpose still being woven, thread by thread, even on the days when you cannot see the design.

Don't trade my promise for your hurry. I have not forgotten you. Rest in that today.
