16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Verse explanation
The promise is not to spare the person from going through distress, but to be present during it: God promises to answer when called, to stay with them in the midst of suffering, and only afterward bring them out, rather than avoiding the difficulty altogether.
