19And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets.
Verse explanation
“Fishers of men” is a direct play on the two brothers’ trade: the same fishing skill becomes an image for what Jesus proposes they do from now on.
