Verse explanation

Jesus uses a simple observation from farming: a kernel of wheat kept in storage remains just a single kernel, but if it’s planted, a plant full of new kernels grows from it. It’s an image for speaking of His own death, which, according to the text, would produce something greater than if He had simply stayed alive without dying.
