Day 6Mornings with God

Satisfied Early in the Morning

O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

Psalm 90:14

Satisfied. What a beautiful word to begin the day with.

Not just surviving. Not dragging yourself along. Satisfied — full of something that sustains.

The psalmist asks God for this: that His lovingkindness would arrive early, before the day opens up, so that it could last through all the days ahead. Like a good meal that sustains you for hours, God's presence in the morning feeds the soul for whatever comes next.

How many times have you reached the end of the day completely empty? With the feeling that you gave everything and nothing was left? That happens when we go out in the morning without first being filled.

I'm not talking about being perfect. It's not about having a beautiful devotional every day with candles and a journal. Sometimes it's just one minute with closed eyes saying: "Lord, fill me."

But that intention — to be satisfied by God before being emptied by the day — makes a difference. You leave the house different. You respond differently. You can endure more.

Ask for this today. Ask to be satisfied early.

Prayer

Father, satisfy me this morning with Your goodness. I don't want to reach the end of the day empty. Fill me with You before the day empties me. Amen.
