Day 2 — Mornings with God
The Hour Before Dawn
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
Mark 1:35
Jesus did this. The one who was the Son of God, who had power to heal and to raise the dead — got up early to pray. Not because He needed to prove anything. Because He needed the Father.
If even Jesus sought that quiet time before the world woke up, what does that say to you and me?
I'm not saying you need to wake up at four in the morning. It's not about the exact hour. It's about the intention: creating a space before the noise begins. Before the kids start calling, before work pulls at you, before the to-do list appears in your head.
Jesus chose the deserted place. Sometimes your desert is the quiet kitchen with a hot cup of coffee. Sometimes it's the bathroom locked for five minutes. The place matters less than the heart that seeks.
Today, where is your deserted place? What is your moment before the noise?
Prayer
Father, just as Jesus sought You early, I want to seek You before I begin my day. Show me where to find that quiet space. May I not pass through this day without first having been with You. Amen.
