Day 54Healing for the Heart

Steadiness for the Days Still Ahead

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Psalm 46:1

Life makes no promise that after this pain, no other will ever come. That would be nice, but it isn't true — and lying to your heart wouldn't help you. What God promises is better and more real: that He will be your refuge in whatever anguish still comes. Notice the three words: refuge (a place where you hide and are kept safe), strength (a protection that does not fall), and "a very present help" (not a distant God who might help later, but a help that is already there, at the exact moment). You come out of this season of pain wiser: now you know, from experience, where to run. Not to your own strength, which runs out, but to God, who never fails. The winters still ahead in life — and there will be some — will find you steadier, because you discovered in practice that God really is a refuge. You've learned the way home. And that way lasts forever.

Prayer

Lord, I know other difficulties will come in life. But You are my refuge and strength, a present help in every trouble. May I always run to You. Amen.
