Day 4 — Healing for the Heart
He Heals Broken Hearts
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3
When the body gets hurt, we take care of it: we clean the wound, bandage it, give it time to heal. But a wounded heart we usually let bleed on the inside, thinking we have to handle it alone. Today, hear this: God doesn't only take care of the world out there. He tends to your invisible wound, the one no one sees and that hurts more than any cut. The psalm's words are tender: He binds up the wounds — like someone dressing an injury with careful hands, unhurried, careful not to cause more pain. The God who sustains the universe bends over your wounded heart with the care of a father over his child's scraped knee. You don't have to heal by sheer willpower. Hand the wound over to the One who knows how to care for it. He specializes in mending what has been broken.
Prayer
Lord, bring Your hand over the wound no one sees. Tend to what hurts on the inside. I entrust my broken heart to You. Amen.
