Day 59Marriage Devotional

Gratitude and Admiration

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Philippians 4:4

Gratitude is a practice, not a spontaneous feeling. When you deliberately list what you admire about your spouse, when you count the ways — small and great — that he adds to your life, something shifts in your heart. Gratitude opens your eyes to what's been there all along, what you'd simply stopped seeing. Him waking up early. Him laughing in a way you love. Him standing beside you in that hard moment. Him trying, even when he gets it wrong. The admiration you feel today may not be the same as it was when you were dating — and it doesn't need to be. It can be more mature, more real, deeper. But it needs to be cultivated. Tell him one thing you admire about him today. Not tomorrow. Today.

Prayer

God, open my eyes to see with gratitude the man You have given me. May I never take him for granted. May the admiration I feel be spoken out loud and not stay locked inside me. Amen.
