Day 29 — Marriage Devotional
What Lasts Forever
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three.”
1 Corinthians 13:13a
Abide. That's God's word for love. Not "works for a while," not "lasts as long as it's good" — it abides. And what abides has roots. It has a foundation. It isn't knocked down by the first storm, nor the tenth.
You are building something that abides. Every day you choose love when it would be easier not to, every prayer you lift together, every forgiveness given and received — all of it is foundation. It may look invisible, it may seem like nothing is changing. But God is at work in what isn't visible yet. The love that abides isn't spectacular every day — it's consistent. It's faithful on the gray Monday, in the month of high bills, in the winter of marriage. And that's exactly where it proves it's real. The love that stays when it could have left — that's the love God celebrates.
Prayer
God, may our love be the kind that abides. Not only on the good days, but on the ordinary, difficult, and weary ones. May faithfulness be our mark. Amen.
