Day 13Marriage Devotional

The home as an altar

And there he builded an altar unto the LORD.

Genesis 12:8b

Abraham had a habit: wherever he went, he raised an altar. He didn't wait for a beautiful house, a stable situation, perfect conditions. He raised the altar right where he was. You can do the same in your home.

An altar doesn't have to be physical. It can be that moment when the two of you stop and acknowledge that God is there. It can be a prayer before bed, a Bible verse on the wall, the decision to resolve an argument before the sun goes down. It is the act of saying: God, you are welcome here. In every detail, in every tension, in every joy. When the home becomes an altar — a place of meeting with God — it stops being just a dwelling and becomes a sacred place. And you realize you're not just building walls: you're building something eternal.

Prayer

Lord, may our home be an altar where we meet You. May our life together be a living act of worship. May You be welcome here, always. Amen.
