Day 11A Man After God's Own Heart

Commit Your Plans

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Proverbs 16.3

Proverbs teaches something that lifts the weight of having to decide everything alone: commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established. Many men carry the sense that they need to have every answer — the right plan, the perfect strategy, the next step already mapped out. That's heavy. And when the plan goes wrong, the blame lands entirely on their own shoulders. But this verse invites a different rhythm: yes, you plan — Scripture never condemns planning — but you hand that plan over to God before gripping the outcome with all your strength. Committing your works to the Lord isn't passivity; it's recognizing you don't control every variable, and that God can establish your thoughts in a way your own head never could. Maybe you're facing a work decision, a project, a career change, unsure if you're getting it right. Instead of spinning alone in circles, bring that plan to God in prayer before you act. You're still responsible for the effort, but the final outcome doesn't rest solely on your ability to foresee everything. Today, take your plans to God before you hold onto them with both hands.

Prayer

Lord, I commit my plans and decisions to You. Establish my thoughts and guide my steps where my own wisdom falls short. I trust You with the outcome. Amen.
