Day 285 — Closer to God — 365 Days
The Great Gain of Contentment
“But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
1 Timothy 6:6
The world sells us the idea that contentment comes later — after you buy, achieve, accomplish, solve. But Paul says something completely different: the great gain is already found in contentment. Not in having more, but in being at peace with what you have. This isn't passive resignation — it's a spiritual achievement. It's reaching the point where inner peace doesn't depend on your bank balance. It's being able to say: "I don't have everything I want, but I have everything I need — and I have God." This contentment doesn't fall from the sky overnight. Paul said he learned to be content (Philippians 4:11). It's a process. And it begins with choosing, today, to be grateful for what you have instead of grieving over what's missing. Try it. This is one of the most solid paths to peace.
Prayer
Lord, teach me the contentment that only comes from You. May I not need more to be grateful — may I learn to find abundance in enough. Amen.
