Sunday Night, a Week Ahead

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest... For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28,30

It's Sunday night, and already that tightness in your chest hits, thinking about the week ahead. Monday's meeting, Tuesday's deadline, that difficult conversation scheduled for Thursday. Your weekend rest is already tainted in advance by the weight of what's coming.

My son, my daughter, I don't want you to live Sunday thinking about Monday, or Monday thinking about Tuesday, always a step ahead of where your body actually is. That robs you of the right to live the present day in peace.

The burden I offer is light, not because life is easy, but because I carry along with you what is too heavy to bear alone. Hand over this whole week to me now, before it even begins. Monday is under my care too, and I will already be there when it comes.
