Faithful in the Small Things of Each Day

“He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much.”

Luke 16:10

My son, my daughter, today I want to talk about the small things: the dishes washed without complaint, the time kept, the simple promise you keep even when you'd rather put it off. You might think these don't count for much next to the big plans you dream of accomplishing.

But I see it differently. It's in the small things, repeated every day, that the character is built which will hold you up when the big moment comes. No one becomes faithful all at once, in one enormous opportunity. Faithfulness is trained in the routine no one films, in the ordinary commitment that seems unimportant.

Don't look down on your ordinary today. Every small act of faithfulness today is a brick in the house I'm building inside you. Stay steady in the simple things, and I myself will see to entrusting you with what's greater, at the right time.
