Grateful for the Season I'm In

“Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.”

Ecclesiastes 7:10

I notice that habit of comparing today's season with an earlier one, always concluding that things used to be better: lighter, happier, easier. And the wise man already warned that this question isn't fitting, because it blinds you to the good that exists in the present season.

Every season of life has its own weight and its own beauty. Youth has energy, but also inexperience. Midlife has responsibility, but also maturity. The season that feels heaviest right now is shaping you in a way the previous one never could.

Instead of idealizing the past, look at the present and seek out what only this season can teach you. I don't waste a single stage of your life — each one carries a lesson the others don't. Be grateful for the season you're in today, even if it looks different from the one you remember with nostalgia.
