After Years of Silence
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”
Psalm 133:1
I know how many years have passed since the last real conversation between you two. Time went by, the original reasons for the falling-out have grown fuzzy, but the silence became a habit, and now breaking that habit seems harder than resolving the falling-out itself.
My son, my daughter, the more time passes, the more frightening taking the first step seems, because the distance has grown right along with the silence. You ask yourself: is there still time? Does it even still make sense after so long?
I say yes. Lost time hurts, but it isn't greater than the time that can still be lived in peace. A simple message can break years of silence: an 'I've been thinking about you,' an 'I miss you,' without needing to resolve everything at once. Let the first brick fall today. I'll take care of the rest of the wall, step by step, together with you.
Declare today
I choose to break the silence, even if years have gone by.
Pray
Father, give me courage to send the first message after so long in silence. Prepare the heart of the one who will receive it. Amen.
📓 Something to think about today
Is there a years-long silence I could break today with a simple, no-pressure message?
