Teach Me, I Don't Know It All Yet

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

Luke 11:1

I want to remind you of something that brings relief: even the disciples, who walked beside Me every day, ate at My table, and heard My teachings, didn't know how to pray properly. They had to ask: 'teach us.' If they needed to learn after so much time spent with Me, you too can admit you're still learning, without any shame in that.

Maybe you think you should know how to pray better by now, with more faith, more consistency, more perfect words. Son, no one is born knowing how to pray. Prayer is learned by praying, the same way walking is learned by walking, falling, getting up again, stumbling once more until the steps become steady. I don't expect perfection from you in this — I expect willingness to keep trying.

Today, if you feel your prayer is weak, stumbles, loses its way in the middle, gets distracted easily — come to Me the way that disciple did, without ceremony: 'Father, teach me.' And I, who taught them with patience, will teach you too, one day at a time, unhurried.
